This beautiful flower is the Camellia sinensis - a species of evergreen shrubs in the flowering plant family Theaceae whose leaves and leaf buds are used to produce tea.
There are five main types of tea: black, oolong, green, white and pu-erh.
One can find many varieties totaling more than 3,000 teas worldwide.
What few tea-drinkers realize is that: all five types are made from the same plant species, the Camellia Sinensis.
So what accounts for the differences between the five types?
They are distinct due to the oxidation or fermentation process of the tea leaves.
